Mr. Lou Has it Correct

We will all be better citizens when voting records of our Congressmen are followed as carefully as scores of pro-football games. -- Lou Erickson

V.O.T.E. S.M.A.R.T.

Victory is
Ours only when we
Take time to
Educate ourselves and others in

Suffrage.
Make your voice heard
Accurately, acutely by
Researching each candidate and proposition or amendment - because
Today's choice affects tomorrow.

C.H.O.I.C.E.S.

Carefully look for yourself at
His/her voting record, not
Only listening to
Improvised promise & vision. Does the walk and voting record match the
Candidate's claim?
Educate yourself beyond propaganda. Honor the blood spilled to give you
Suffrage.

I am dumbfounded at constituents who cast a vote for a candidate while saying, "I know this, BUT, they said that... and that is what's important to me." And then the individual complains or seems surprised when the legislator executes bills and appointments against constitutents' will/expression of desire.

Read between the lines - a candidate/incumbent claiming to vote to honor states' rights on one issue, and then ignores states' rights on another is floundering & inconsistent, and has a separate agenda - regardless of party affiliation(s).

Don't just vote to vote. Vote to be heard. Make sure the candidate whom you endorse REALLY stands for your convictions... for the vision you have for your country, state, town, justice system.

Were you surprised by any offices or propositions/amendments on your local ballot?

  • Not at all. I pulled my sample ballot and researched each candidate and issue prior to going to the polls.
  • No, but I didn't understand all of the issues presented.
  • Yes - I didn't realize all of the offices and/or amendments up for election

I posted on another hub this morning that I actually abstained from voting for one of our offices (Prosecutor) because no one was running against this woman and I felt that she was a horrible choice given her track record.

Thank you for commenting, rachelrobinson. I feel the same way about a couple of candidates on our state ballot. Am glad you voted responsibly! :) Thanks for reading and commenting.

I think it was Margaret Thatcher that said, "The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money." Of course there are also many other problems with it.

I like this hub. I agree and find it strange that people still believe what politicians says in their campaigns
